Google Books (anteriormente conocido como Google Book Search y Google Print) es un servicio de Google que busca en el texto completo de libros que Google escanea, se convierte en texto usando el reconocimiento óptico de caracteres, y tiendas en su base de datos digital. El servicio era anteriormente conocida como Google Print, cuando se presentó en la Feria del Libro de Frankfurt en octubre de 2004. Cuando proceda a la búsqueda de palabras clave de un usuario, hasta tres resultados del índice de Google Libros se muestran los resultados de búsqueda en el servicio de búsqueda web de Google (google.com). Un usuario también puede buscar sólo para libros dedicados al servicio de Google Libros. Clic en un resultado de Google Books se abre una interfaz en la que el usuario podrá visualizar las páginas del libro, así como los contenidos relacionados con los anuncios y enlaces a la página web de la editorial y los libreros. A través de una serie de limitaciones de acceso y las medidas de seguridad, algunas basadas en el usuario de seguimiento, Google limita el número de páginas visibles y los intentos de evitar la impresión de páginas de texto y copia de material con derechos de autor.

El servicio ‘Google Books’ nació en diciembre de 2003 con el objetivo de permitir que los usuarios localizasen vía web información contenida también dentro de los libros impresos. Por ello, Google comenzó a escanear miles de obras, tanto con copyright como sin él (por ejemplo, porque son libros publicados hace muchos años, cuyos derechos de autor han expirado).

Que vale que la RAE también cometa fallos aceptando cosas como “asín”… lo siento, no puedo aceptar esa palabra, duele demasiado. Pero joder, al menos esfuérzate por escribir lo mejor posible… sólo lo suficiente para que no tenga que parar de leerlo por lo que duele, ¿vale? Y si no os bajáis el Google Chrome que os subraya lo que está mal escrito, y veréis que chachi piruli (considerad volver a 2º de primaria si os sale todo en rojo, en serio.)

Aunque bueno, gracias a vosotros se ha inventado el traductor HOYGAN. Muy molón él. Tú escribes todo correctamente y él te lo pone en idioma Hoyganiano. Es un sistema que se basa en la gente que hace preguntas (estúpidas) en Yahoo Answers y demás sitios llenos de Hoygans. Hes mui dibertido.

Ahora que lo pienso… ¿y si alguien inventara lo contrario? No es coña. Que un Hoygan escriba todo mal en ese traductor y que él se lo corrija sería un gran adelanto para la humanidad. Bueno, eso si no fuera porque a un Hoygan se la suda la hortografía y no va a perder su (valioso) tiempo en usar un traductor así… pero la idea es buena, oye.

Pues ahora voy yo, señores, y añado una postdata a lo que acabo de publicar… y diréis… ¿no es más fácil editar y añadirlo?

Sí. Lo es. Pero como es mi blog y me apetece escribir (aunque aún no me sienta capaz de escribir aquí todo lo que realmente me apetece escribir) pues voy yo y añado esto. JAH.

La postdata era una aclaración. Sé que esto, después de mis chapas chaposas, puede parecer un blog sobre Muse… no lo es.

Dicho esto, tengo dos opciones.

La primera, la adecuada. Callarme. Callarme e irme a la cama, que ya son horas, coño… digoooo… jope?

Son las 3:31. Bueno, ni que fuera tan tarde. Ni que fueran muchas las veces que yo me acuesto antes de esta hora. Yo soy más de noche, de tranquilidad, de poder hablar con quien quiero sin tener que hacer cosas. Es cuando más vitalidad tengo, cuando estoy de mejor humor -como todas las reglas en fonética inglesa, siempre hay excepciones-, cuando me apetece hacer cosas, escribir, leer, cantar, tocar la guitarra. Me corto. No os vayáis a pensar que me pongo a canturrear y a tocar la guitarra a estas horas. Tengo un mínimo de respeto. Vaya, bonita palabra. Muchos deberían buscarla en el diccionario antes de dirigirse a mi.

Creo que acabo de joder mi propia primera opción, qué se le va a hacer. Tendré que mencionar la segunda de todas formas, ¿no?

La segunda opción es escribir. Escribir sin pensar. Porque es lo que yo hago. No pienso en lo que voy a poner, no pienso en la sutileza que soltaré en la siguiente frase. Simplemente dejo que mis dedos se muevan por el teclado sin pensar. Supongo que por eso cuando leo estas cosas otro día me pregunto en qué leches estaría yo pensando. Pero es lo que hay. Algunos se desahogan insultando, gritando, otros saliendo a dar una vuelta. Yo a veces me desahogo escribiendo, porque sí, porque me apetece. Aunque la mayoría de las cosas que escribo nunca verán la luz. Lo peor es que esto mismo nunca debería ver la luz, que luego la gente me toma por loca. Aunque bueno, ni que me importara.

COÑO.

No, no tengo el síndrome de Tourette. Me han dicho que lo ponga. Lo juro. Si, hay frikis como yo que siguen despiertas a estas horas. Qué le vamos a hacer. (Desde el cariño, hamija, ya lo sabes).

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con ese grupo de Feisbuk que dice “NO soporto que se ponga de moda algo que me gusta desde hace mucho tiempo” y al que por supuesto me uní según lo vi.

No es por ir de modenna, que a mi siempre me ha hecho gracia esa gente que va de moderna, al tiempo que lo niega para ser aún más “pero mira qué modenna soy”, si cabe. Es solo que, seamos sinceros, ya no queda nada por inventar. ¿Qué hay de moderno en que una punky de palo lleve corbatas por encima de las camisetas? O el ejemplo del año “Leopardo & cuero & tachuelas”. Señoras y señores, yo llevo combinando esos tres elementos junto al pintalabios rojo desde hace mucho tiempo, y esquinera era de lo más bonito que me llamaban pero ¡EH! que está de moda, HOYGAN, que lo llevan cuatro piojosas y ya es in, chic, o como cada cual quiera llamarlo. En fin…está claro que en este país o sucumbe uno a los cánones y es un totaaal, o por el contrario se forja una imagen y es un desfasado. ¿En qué quedamos? Claro que, una cosa es crear uno su propia imagen, y otra ya es estar tan desfasado que la extravagancia acaba apoderándose de la persona.

En fin, que la personalidad es más barata que unos Louboutin o un Dior y el algo que no pasa de moda, creo yo…al menos es más difícil que se apolille.

We could also notice that we have the opportunity to find a huge diversity of definitions of the word “blog”, such as “A weblog is kind of a continual tour, with a human guide who you get to know. There are many guides to choose from, each develops an audience, and there’s also comraderie and politics between the people who run weblogs, they point to each other, in all kinds of structures, graphs, loops, etc”. or “A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. On the one hand, we could start talking about CiteULike, which is a free online service. Its main objective is to organize academic publications, now run by Oversity. It has been on the Web since October 2004 when its originator was attached to the University of Manchester, and was the first Web – based social bookmarking tool designed specifically for the needs of scientists and scholars.

In the style of other popular social bookmarking sites, such as del.icio.us, it allows users to bookmark and “tag” URIs with personal metadata using a Web browser; these bookmarks can then be shared using simple links such as those shown below. The number of articles bookmarked in CiteULike is more than 3 million (as shown on CiteULike’s homepage). While the CiteULike software is not open source, part of the dataset it collects is currently in the public domain Publication.

CiteULike is based on the principle of social bookmarking and is aimed to promote and to develop the sharing of scientific references amongst researchers. In the same way that it is possible to catalog web pages (with Furl and del.icio.us) or photographs (with Flickr), scientists can share information on academic papers with specific tools developed for that purpose.

On the other hand, however, we have Google Books. It’s a service that allows people search and find information about any book they want by internet. In the 2003 Google began scanning thousands of works whether copyrighted or not for easy access to readers. By the year 2009 Google had already scanned over ten millions of books. We can also find some entire books if we select the option of  ‘entire books’ on the advanced search. The aim of GoogleBooks is to offer unprecedented access to what may become the largest online corpus of human knowledge and also to promote the democratization of knowledge. However, it is worth to say that this service has been critized for copyright violations.

Donald  Ervin Knuth a computer scientist, was the creator of the TEX computer typesetting  system. TeX has become one of the most sophisticated digital typographical program in the world. It is a way to typeset complex mathematical formulae.

From 2003, the program wiki MediaWiki (used by Wikipedia) implements the marks TeX using the etiquettes <math> … </math> that enclose TeX’s blocks. This capacity is possible thanks to Texvc that basically is a sequence of interpreted orders that send the marks to the program TeX producing a dvi, which with dvips generates a file PostScript which will use as base in order that Ghostscript believes the image PNG.

CiteULike

CiteULike dohaniko zerbitzu bat da, laguntzen duena irakurtzen ari zaren dokumentu akademikoak gordetzeko, antolatzeko eta konaprtitzeko. Interneten aurkitzen duzun lanen bat interresgarri iruditzen bazaizu, botoi bat pultsatu dezakezu, lana  zure liburutegi pertsonalera gehituz. CiteULikek automatikoki hartze du zita, beraz ez dago zita idazteko beharrik, eta dena funtzionatzen duenez zure web browser -tik ez dago beste software instalatzeko beharrik ezta.  Aldi berean, zure liburutegi pertsonala zerbidorean gordetzen denez, Internet konexioa duen edozein ordenagailutik sar zaitezke. Jakin nahi bazenuke nola funzionatzen duen zerbitzu hau, lagungarri izango dituzu diapositiba hauek.

GoogleBooks ehundaka mila liburu imprimatutako edukiak indexatu ditu lortutako datuak edozein erabiltzaileren esku jarriz. CiteULike publikazio akademikoak organizatzen dituen zerbitzu publikoa litzateke. Erudito eta zientzialarien beharrak asetzeko lehenengo Web-a izan zela diote batzuek. Haiek aukeratutako dokumentu edo artikuluak markatzeko herraminta da eta  bakitzarentzako interesgarriak izan daitezkeen artikulu edota testuak gordetzeko balio du. Metadatuen bitartez liburuak markatzeko aukera ematen digun bakarra da eta gaur egun 3 milioi liburu baino gehiago daude markatuta.

GoogleBooks, ordea, Google-k eskaintzen duen zerbitzu bat da eta Google-k eskaneatutako liburuen testu osoak bilatzen ditu eta database digitalean biltegiratzen ditu. Paper-liburuak eta dokumentuak, artxibo elekrtoniko bilakatzen ditu. Hala ere, eskaneatutako artxiboak direnez, konputadoreak ez du edukia ezagutzen eta horretarako  OCR softwarea erabili beharko litzateke.

Historia osoan zehar, batez ere inprentaren etorreratik, argi eta garbi ikusi izan da beti  nor zen obra baten autorea eta nork zeuzkan horren gaineko eskubide guztiak. Interneten etorrerarekin ordea, autoreen eskubidea beraiek idatzitako obren gainean zalantzatan jarri da, liburuen informazio guztia internetera heldu da eta bertan erraz kopiatu eta banatu daiteke inolako baimenik gabe.

Batzuk, jabetza intelektualaren kontzeptu honen aurka ageri dira eta “copyleft” delako lizentziaren sorrera bultzatu dute. Copyleft, Copyrightaren kontzeptuaren aurkako bezala jaio zen eta talde lanaren kontzeptuak bultzatzen ditu hala nola jendearen partaidetza handitu… etab.

Honez gain, copyleft lizentziapean argitaratua izan dena, edonoren esku dago eta bakoitzak bere erara manipulatu dezake baina, inork ezingo luke beste batek egindako lanetik probetxurik atera, izan ere, norbaitek material honetatik baliatuz beste bat egin edota publikatuko balu, copyleft kondizio berdinetan egin beharko litzateke.

Let’s talk about two of the most useful and interesting services which we can find in the Web. I am referring to CiteUlike and as well Google Books.

• CiteUlike: it is a famous free online service that we can use in order to organize or arrange many academic publications. It was created and put on the web in October 2004, at the same time that its creator, Richard Cameron, was attached to the University of Manchester. It is designed concretely for the needs of scientifics and also scholars. It is a free social marker that helps anyone to store, organize, share and recommend those scientific articles you are reading. Site CiteUlike extracts automatically the details of the bibliographic reference that you have recently attached.
• Google Books: it is a service that allows people search and find information about any book they want by internet. In the 2003 Google began scanning thousands of works whether copyrighted or not for easy access to readers. By the year 2009 Google had already scanned over ten millions of books. We can also find some entire books if we select the option of  ‘entire books’ on the advanced search.
