If we look up in a dictionary the meaning of the word blog, we are going to find something like this: is a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author. But we do have to think that a blog s are mucho more than just a definition. Why?
Blogs can be considered as the newest media revolution, which is changin all the society: politics, business, culture… We only have to see some dates and numbers to understand this “revolution”. Before 1997, poeple didn’t even know the word “blog”, now defined as a regularly updated online journal. In 1999, people started being interested in them and there were a few hundred blogs. However, today, the search site technorati.com tracks 23.5 million of them.
Nowadays, there are so many different types of blogs that we can clasifie them: tematic blogs, personal blogs, colavorative blogs, fotolog, audioblog… They all have their own characteristics and functions. But a typical blog, usually combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web Pages, and other media related to the topyc. We don’t have to forget that a very important part of many blogs is that every reader can leave the comment he wants.
