Related with the other articles published, this post deals with information about different researchers, whose work has been remarkable in the field of human language technology.
With regard to Martin Kay, who was born and raised in Great Britain, I’d like to mention that he is specially remarkable for his work in computational linguistics. Being nowadays the permanent chairman of the International Committee on Computational Linguistics, he has achieved fame due to his works in developing chart parsing and functional unification grammar. Moreover, he is also known as a leading author on machine translation.
As well as Martin Kay, Yorick Wilks is also a well-known character. Nowadays, is Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sheffield and a Senior Research fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute. In order to achieve his recognition and the prizes he has been awarded such as the “Antonio Zapelli” prize and the “Lifetime Achievemente Award”, he has worked in different fields; word sense disambiguation and machine translation system, to name but a few ones.
