WordPress, official successor of b2\cafelog, is an open source blog publishing application. It has become one of the most popular CMS’s right now, as well as Movable Type. The main reasons for its success are its enormous growth, its GPL license, and its simplicity.

The name WordPress was suggested by Christine Selleck, a friend of lead developer Matt Mullenweg. And continuing with the curiosities, we have to remark that each WordPress version launched has been called like famous jazz musicians (Mingus, Strayhorn…).
WordPress includes widgets that can be rearranged without editing HTML code, as well as themes that can be installed and switched between. WordPress also give us the opportunity to include a series of links; a search engine; multiple categories to articles; multiple author capability; support for tagging of posts and articles; and so on.
The WordPress development is led by Ryan Boren and Matt Mullenweg (as well as their group of collaborators). Besides, WordPress is also in part developed by its community, among which are the WP testers, a group of people who have access to Beta versions and test each release.
WordPress Icon for iPhone or iPod Touch
On July 11th 2008, with the launch of iTunes App Store by Apple, WordPress decided that it was time to release a new application for the new iPhone and the iPod Touch in order to allow users to access WordPress blogs.
WordPress, as we have analysed above, is a magnificent tool that let us publish our own content in the Web, and as we have previously explained, since the appearance of the Web 2.0 this practice has become enormously common. Long life the blog!
