In this site I am going to talk about the use of social networks in the TV serie The Bing Bang Theory. It is considered a Mass Media product, Even though an important part of the show is based in physics and its laws. As many other highly folled serie it has an officialFacebook, Twitter and Blog, apart from all the fan-made ones.
Introduction
The Big Bang Theory is set in Pasadena, California, the show is centered on five characters: two roommate California_Institute_of_Technology geniuses, experimental physicist Leonard_Hofstadter and theoretical physicistSheldom Cooper; their neighbor across the hall Penny, an attractive blonde waitress and aspiring actress; and Leonard and Sheldon’s equally geeky and socially awkward co-workers and friends Howard_Wolowitz, an Aerospace engineer and a non-PhD from Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Rajesh Koothrappali] a particle astrophysicist postdoc also working at Caltech. The geekiness and intellect of the four guys is contrasted for comic effect with Penny’s social skills and common sense. Three other supporting characters have also been promoted to main cast status for a few episodes: Leslie Winkle, a Caltech colleague of Leonard, Sheldon, and Raj; Bernadette, a microbiology graduate student who works with Penny part time as a waitress and has dated and recently has become engaged to Howard; and Farrah Fowler, a neurobiologist who was hooked up with Sheldon via an online dating service (courtesy of Howard and Raj, who were later horrified when Amy turned out to essentially be a female version of Sheldon).
Social Network
The Big Bang Theory uses the service of many official social networks to share and promote their serie, from it’s Facebook and Twitter to their official site and last they have the CBS site where this mayor US television Network CBS mangages the information of the new episodes and seassons as well as special content about the cast and many other interesting information for those who follow the serie.
Microblogging
This series has also an official Twitter so they can inform of the latest news and they can show some pictures of the cast while they act. Also Fans can tweet information related to the serie.
