Question answering (QA) is a task that automatically answers questions made in a natural way. Computers with this capacity, use a pre-structured database or some determined natural language documents to do it-

This kind of research answers questions that can be mande in several conexts as could be facts, lists, definitions etc, not just symple quiestions, but semanthically constrained, hypothetical and similar questions too.

  • One of this kind of question answering systems is the one called Close-domain, which deals with questions which can be found under a specific domain as could be any medicine-related, or similar.
  • On the other side we can find the Open-domain question answering system, which are able to answer questions about almost anything we can imagine. These systems usually have much more information which we can use in order to get the best answer to our questions, contrary to the system I’ve mentiond before.

The Question answering systems are defined as tools capable to obtain concrete answers for a series of questions asked in a natural language. These systems ate used frequently when trying to recover any information.

These systems are capable to interpretate a concrete quuestion that is trying to recover some kind of information and thanks to this interpretation it does a research about the information that is exposed to get the right answer to the question we have made before.

Estos sistemas son capaces de interpretar una determinada pregunta que pretende recuperar algún tipo de información y con esta interpretación realizar una búsqueda sobre la información de que se dispone para suministrar una respuesta adecuada.
