mayo 11th, 2009 · No hay Comentarios

First of all we must say that the World Wide Wed, or also called WWW and the Web, it is a collection of documents linked one to another all around the world. There are different programmes to see this kind of documents such as Internet Exlporer, Netscape, Mosaic…

Hypertexts are those documents the Web shows. They’re conected by diverse links so this way the user surfing the Internet can go around all them in an easy way. The collection of hypertexts is called hypermedia. The aim of the hypertext is to take advantage of all the data provided to the person navigating to organise all the information. We can say that an encyclopedia is similar to a hypertext. This are the main characteristics of a good hypertext:

  • Lots of documents
  • Lots of links
  • Range of detail
  • Correct links

Talking about the relation between the Web and the Hypertext we can say that in the year 1992 Lynx was borned as an Internet browser and this browser was the one to provide hypertext links within documents that could reach other documents anywhere and this way started the creation of the Web on the Internet. Some years later Mosaic, another browser, replaced Lynx and offered images as well as texts to other hypertext links. Finally in the year 1995 the first wiki was created and it made the Web more hypertextual.
