Biographies:

Hans Uszkoreit is Professor of Computational Linguistics at Saarland University. At the same time he serves as Scientific Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) where he heads the DFKI Language Technology Lab. He is also Professor of the Computer Science Department. Uszkoreit studied Linguistics and Computer Science at the Technical University of Berlin. He co-founded the Berlin city magazine Zitty, for which he worked as an part-time editor and writer. Uszkoreit is Permanent Member of the International Committee of Computational Linguistics (ICCL), Member of the European Academy of Sciences, and Member of the Executive Board of the European Network of Language and Speech despite of many other achievments.

Silviu Cucerzan studied in The Johns Hopkins University (USA). He joined Microsoft in 2003, after completing his Ph.D. work at the Johns Hopkins University, where he was a member of the Center for Speech and Language Processing. He also received a M.S.E. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins, as well as an M.Sc. and a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from University of Bucharest. Prior to coming to the United States, he held a junior faculty position in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at University of Bucharest.
