VENICE- THE SUBJECT OF MY CHOICE

julio 6th, 2011 · No hay Comentarios

This post is related to the city of Venice, and it is also related to the subject about the Italian language, in which we have been studying two years already and has given us an idea of the culture and customs of the italians.

For this blog I have choose Venice, because it is one of the most beautiful cities of Italy since my point of view and one of the most peculiar cities with its canal all over the city. The city has 117 small islands crossing its city  in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. Venice is also cross by  the mouths of the Po (south) and the Piave (north) Rivers.

One of the most touristic places that you can find in Venice is Piazza San Marcos, one of the most famous places and also it has been used to film some movies, maybe it is its popularity the reason why it is so expensive to have a drink in this place full of birds and incredible buildings all around it.

It is also the the city for all the romantics and couples that want to experience the love in all it sense, walking through its streets or
going in a gondola through the canals while the man from the boat sings traditional italian songs.

Venice has something that is really charming, maybe is because is one of the few cities in Europe that you have the possibility to cross all the city by boat.Going by vaporetto or motoscafo is cheaper than going by taxi.

Near Venice, you can also find the islands of the Murano crystal, that has its own name.

If you want to go to another places near Venice, the train is one of the best options and in a frew hours you can be in Verona, Padua or Treviso.

La Piazza was built at first in the XI century as a little area in front of the San Marcos church, it was expanded in 1177. It had a really important paper through all the history.

Ponte di Rialto  is one of the principles bridges that cross the city through the Grand Canal and is 400 years old, and near it you ca find a lively food market that has shops in it.

Galleria del’Accademia is the best art museums in all Italy  with 24 rooms in 3 historic and different buildings.  But you need to go early if you dont want to wait in the queue a long time.

What can you eat?

One option when thinking about dining in Venice includes the Venetian pintxos, called “cicchetti”.So you can get a glass of wine and food from little plates, and you can try some of these pintxos. Do Mori could be one of the best options as is the oldest bar in Venice.
